Our son took first place in his school for the 1st and 2nd grade chess tournament. He will be getting his trophy in June and we are all so proud of him. He has worked hard to learn the game and we will continue to encourage him and practive with him as long as he maintains an interest in the game.
Last month when we took him and a friend to a regional tournament, his friend won a trophy and he just missed enough points to qualify. He was disappointed but took his defeat well. We are so proud to see him want to earn his awards.
Vey cool ! My oldest is a little younger than your son and is just began the elementary school events too. It's a great parental moment to watch them perform and compete and how they handle success or disapointment.
